Georgia Institute of
Technology Campus Center
Renovation & Expansion

Pape-Dawson (as Eberly & Associates) provided civil engineering services for a renovation and expansion project on the Georgia Institute of Technology campus. Our services included extensive sustainability initiatives, rainwater harvesting, and expanded site utilization for student interface for the new Campus Center. The new Campus Center encompasses four buildings spanning 11 acres along a pedestrian pathway and will add 216,484 SF of new and renovated space.

The project was constructed in phases to allow continuous campus operations. The first phase, The Pavilions, included three new buildings (a 2,200-SF café, a wellness pavilion, and a new 50,000-SF Exhibition Hall with 11 meeting rooms and 11,600-SF ballroom).

The second phase included renovation and expansion of the existing Student Center, including flexible student spaces, two theaters, lounge and dining areas, food and retail, and a game area.

The project was designed with cisterns to hold approximately 167,000 gallons of stormwater for reuse. Site design also included bioswales, pervious paving, and an underground retention chamber system to allow stormwater to infiltrate and recharge the groundwater table. We also improved the accessibility and functionality of the Kessler Campanile Plaza by adding wider terraces and sloping walkways.
