Middle Tennessee Electric
Mt. Juliet Substation
		Mt. Juliet, TN
Pape-Dawson (as RaganSmith) worked directly with Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE), Power Resources, and TVA on providing the preliminary and final site design for their construction of this electrical substation. Design included layout, grading, stormwater quality and quantity, erosion control measures, geotechnical input, environmental input, and utility layout for coordinating the substation’s desired connection points to the existing TVA line and exit lines that serve the community’s power needs. We also worked with MTE and the neighboring landowner to coordinate on subject easements needed for access to the substation and electrical line routings to and from the subject substation.
Along with the site constraints regarding the existing TVA line and required easements, our team had to accommodate the existing railroad spur that crossed the new access drive to the substation. We worked alongside MTE and Power Resources to receive permitting approval from the City of Mt. Juliet and State departments. We provided project representation at the City of Mt. Juliet Planning Commission and for all other necessary permitting needs to help construction commence.
Construction administration services were also provided to ensure design plans were being followed, navigate field changes, ensure construction quality, and maintain schedule. Post construction inspections/certifications of as-builts and site conditions were performed to ensure final U&O sign-off was approved by all necessary City and State Departments.
