IH 440 Survey

Pape-Dawson (as RaganSmith) was one of two firms selected by Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) to provide surveying services for approximately 7 miles of interstate in Nashville. This high-profile project was challenging due to an aggressive schedule and heavy traffic flow throughout the work week. To prioritize the safety of our employees and motorists, and to minimize lane closures, mobile mapping was utilized to obtain survey data within the travel ways of the project. We were responsible for obtaining topographic data beyond the travel ways, identifying and locating all the utilities within the project limits, locating the existing right-of-way throughout the project, and coordinating with TDOT Region 3 survey staff and the other consultant associated with the project.

Additionally, our team was responsible for assembling all of the data collected by mobile mapping and conventional surveying to produce the deliverables to TDOT. The final plan set was delivered in Microstation/Geopak format and included a digital terrain model, property mapping, utility mapping, bridge sketches, drainage map, and profiles. We completed the project within the timeframe established by TDOT.
