Brushy Creek Regional Trail
Round Rock, TX
Pape-Dawson provided civil engineering design and environmental services for the Brushy Creek Regional Trail in Round Rock, a 1.1-mile shared use path residing almost entirely within a 100-year floodplain. The project was funded through the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization with an advanced funding agreement, and therefore required following TxDOT local government project procedures for the design and construction.
areas of expertise
Pedestrian & Bicycle Amenities
Pape-Dawson developed the schematic, 60%, 90%, and final design plans. The trail alignment generally follows a wastewater easement, and Pape-Dawson was tasked with revamping the given alignment to meet both the Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Guide for the Development of Bicycle Facilities and Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG) ADA requirements, while minimizing impacts to the floodplain, existing trees, and other natural features.
