Bulloch County I-16
and US 301 Widening
and Intersection
Improvements
Bulloch County, GA
To improve access to Bruce Yawn Commerce Park, the US 301 corridor required widening from two lanes to four lanes as part of the infrastructure development. Design components included expanded deceleration lanes, storm drainage improvements, curb and gutter installation, and continuous sidewalks throughout the corridor. Pape-Dawson performed all the surveying and design per GDOT, American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) standards.
Additionally, our team facilitated ROW acquisition through direct coordination and negotiation with adjacent property owners to ensure successful project advancement.
This was a significant challenge as property owners requested entrance enhancements that were not consistent with the original design. Pape-Dawson successfully navigated these challenges through thoughtful negotiation, exercising clear, respectful communication and strategic design adjustments to secure agreement.
This project highlighted the critical importance of stakeholder communication. Due to public scrutiny surrounding the industrial park development, it was essential to maintain transparency with county commissioners and provide them with regular updates to facilitate communication with constituents. This collaborative approach strengthened relationships and enhanced public trust in the project’s value, while avoiding delays in the construction timeline.
