San Antonio Spurs Name Lead Partners for Design and Development of Downtown Arena and District
SAN ANTONIO (May 13, 2026) – Spurs Sports & Entertainment (SS&E) today announced a group of nationally recognized partners who will lead key aspects of the Spurs downtown arena and district. The firms include Marquee Development, Sasaki, Overland International, Pape-Dawson, CAA ICON, Stafford Sports, Goldman Sachs, Hunton Andrews Kurth and Jorge Rodriguez Financial Consulting.
Together, these partners bring meaningful experience across planning, design, development, financing and large-scale urban projects and will work closely with local firms and community partners to help deliver on the overall vision of the project.

Marquee Development – District Development
Marquee Development is a nationally recognized full-service real estate development and investment firm with experience delivering mixed-use districts around leading sports and entertainment destinations. As the real estate arm of the Ricketts family office—majority owners of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Stars, with ownership stakes in other professional sports teams globally—Marquee brings a strong track record of creating vibrant spaces around major venues. The firm will lead development of the surrounding district, including retail, hospitality and community-focused spaces that activate the area year-round through ongoing programming and activation.
Sasaki – Master District Planning
Sasaki is a globally recognized design firm with experience leading sports-anchored mixed-use districts across the country. As master district planner, Sasaki will guide the overall vision for the Spurs downtown district, helping shape how the arena connects to surrounding spaces and integrates into downtown San Antonio. The firm recently led the Arboretum San Antonio master plan, bringing a strong understanding of the community and proven approach to stakeholder engagement.
Overland International – Arena Architect
Overland International is a renowned architecture and design firm specializing in industry-leading sports, entertainment and urban environments. Guided by founders with decades of experience in uniquely innovative sports venue design, the firm brings a clear vision for creating world-class, sustainable destinations rooted in their communities. Leveraging its presence in San Antonio, Overland International will design a new home for the Spurs that distinctly reflects the culture, history, and identity of the city while delivering a best-in-class fan experience.

Pape-Dawson brings a proven track record of success delivering complex, high-visibility sports and entertainment projects and is currently providing professional services for the new Nissan Stadium in downtown Nashville. For the Spurs downtown arena and district, the team will lead environmental, civil and traffic engineering and surveying efforts, helping ensure the project is built to support long-term growth and connectivity for our community.

The firm represents owners to guide complex projects from planning through delivery, guiding alignment across teams, budgets and timelines. For the Spurs downtown arena and district, CAA ICON will oversee project execution and coordination across all partners.
Stafford Sports – Advisory & Strategic Planning
Stafford Sports is a national strategic advisory firm specializing in the development of major sports and entertainment venues. With decades of experience in the planning, development and construction of numerous sports and entertainment arena and stadium projects, including the Spurs current home, Frost Bank Center, the firm brings expertise of the local market and the industry landscape.
