Fort Worth Meacham
International Airport
Master Plan
Fort Worth Meacham International Airport (FTW) is classified in the NPIAS as a national airport and is home to over 330 based aircraft, including over 100 business jets. The FTW master plan focused on expanding corporate jet hangar capacity and improving the parallel runway to provide redundancy in the airfield so that it could remain operational during periods when the primary runway is closed for maintenance. The plan included a dedicated helicopter training pad to eliminate the damaging effects of helicopter training on taxiway pavement while also improving separation between helicopter training operations and fixed-wing operations on the runways. The final plan’s recommendations included:
- A new midfield T-hangar development area to meet the needs of small aircraft users
- A designated area for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) facilities
- RSA/ROFA improvements to allow for the elimination of declared distances and the full use of the primary runway
- Strengthening of the primary runway to accommodate the heaviest business jets in the fleet
- Taxiway improvements to improve operational safety and provide better circulation opportunities with landside areas
- Potential development sites for a new ATCT
