Alamo Regional Mobility
Authority Foster Road

Pape-Dawson was responsible for developing PS&E for this 1.5-mile roadway reconstruction and widening project. Plans consisted of widening to four lanes, adding left-turn, acceleration, and deceleration lanes at key intersections, two traffic signals, open ditch and storm drain, two cross culverts, and one bridge. This project also included signing and pavement markings, drainage studies, scour mitigation, major utility coordination, public involvement, environmental studies, traffic control plan, tree protection plan, driveway design, right-of-way (ROW) acquisition, and coordination with private developments, TxDOT, and utility companies.

Drainage improvements included adjusting the vertical alignment of the road to prevent water overtopping the road, adding a bridge, and upsizing culverts. The project required extensive coordination with adjacent landowners to dedicate ROW to accommodate ultimate roadway operational and safety needs into design plans, allowing us to add deceleration and acceleration lanes for truck ingress and egress for industrial sites without purchasing ROW. This also reduced the amount of guard fence, storm drain and rip-rap required due to the limited ROW, a cost savings to the project.
