Right-of-Way Acquisition
Pape-Dawson completed the acquisition of 52 parcels along the I-35 corridor in Austin, Texas to make way for highway widening and municipal water/wastewater improvements. This project, located over the Edwards Aquifer, was executed under an expedited schedule, with 19 parcels being acquired in advance of environmental clearance. Given the potential for design changes during acquisition, early engagement with property owners was critical.
Key project elements driving the need for widening include new shared use paths, additional bicycle/pedestrian crossings, and more community-friendly connections across the facility.
Necessary relocations included outdoor advertising signs, convenience stores, a four-story commercial building, gas stations, and various retail stores. All relocations have been completed, and the new ROW is cleared for construction.
