Pape-Dawson Engineers Awarded For

The City of Austin Preliminary Phase of IH 35 Capital Express Utility Project

6 May 2021

The City of Austin selected Pape-Dawson Engineers to evaluate relocation of all existing Austin Water utility lines (water, wastewater, reclaimed water) impacted by TxDOT’s proposed road improvements along the IH 35 Capital Express Central corridor, which extends from US 290/Koenig Lane on the north to SH 71/Ben White in the south.

Utility relocation is a critical step for Austin’s safety and mobility roadway improvements that will expand IH 35 capacity through the addition of non-tolled, high occupancy vehicle managed lanes. This high-profile project is aimed to kick off in early 2022 and cost nearly $5 billion. Pape-Dawson will provide project management, assessment, planning, coordination, and schematic documents for the utility components of these major improvements through the Central Austin corridor.

“We are honored to have the opportunity to contribute to this landmark project for the City of Austin,” said Cara Tackett, P.E., LEED AP, Senior Vice President. “We look forward to working on this highly visible project that will help to prepare the City’s infrastructure for continued growth.”

Pape-Dawson Engineers continues to foster relationships with stakeholders and deliver high-quality design work throughout Texas.
