The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has awarded Pape-Dawson Engineers a seven-year General Engineering Consulting (GEC) contract to provide project oversight of the North Tarrant Express (NTE) project. Under the contract, Pape-Dawson will oversee design, construction, maintenance, operations, and tolling activities for NTE Segments 1&2, 3A, 3B and 3C.
NTE construction began in 2013. The IH 35W segments from Downtown Fort Worth to US 287 were complete July 2018. Construction on the 6.7-mile 3C Segment (IH 35W from US 287 to Eagle Parkway) began October 2020. One additional TEXpress Lane and one additional general purpose lane will soon be constructed on Segment 1&2 (IH 820 from IH 35W to SH 121/SH 183/SH 26) to improve highway efficiency, relieve congestion, and improve safety.
“We are really excited to support TxDOT on a project of such significance for the Metroplex,” said Christine Graygor, P.E., project manager Pape-Dawson. “TxDOT’s vision to promote safety and mobility through the NTE program has been extremely successful and we are glad to be a part of it.”
“I am proud of the outstanding leadership on our Transportation team,” said Sam Dawson, Pape-Dawson Engineers’ Chief Executive Officer. “Working with TxDOT on a project of this size in the North Texas area is an exciting opportunity for us. Once this project is complete, it will improve mobility and safety in North Texas.”
Pape-Dawson Engineers continues to grow in Texas and currently has seven offices across the state, including Dallas and Fort Worth offices.
