Copper Bend at Indian Trails

Pape-Dawson (as 7gen Planning) provided landscape architecture services for this 64-acre community that includes multiple parks and open space areas connected by an extensive trail system. The 24-mile trail system provides residents with a direct connection to neighbors, schools, local shopping, parks, and a future connection to the Harris County Precinct 4 Little Cypress Creek Preserve. The parks were planned and designed as a cohesive master park system, but each park has its own unique purpose.

Our team discovered a century oak on the project site during the planning and platting phase. We pulled the plat from the City submittal and made a revision to the design to save the tree and incorporate it as a focal point for one of the community’s parks.

The master park system was designed to provide residents and their families with a variety of outdoor activities including:

  • A nature park for children to have active experiences with the environment
  • An amenity lake trail for fitness and viewing of waterfowl interactions with native fauna
  • Planting shelves at the edge of the lake
  • A reflection area under the canopy of the community’s century oak
