As part of San Antonio’s 2012-2017 Bond Program, Pape-Dawson prepared the PS&E to update a 2-mile stretch of Ray Ellison Boulevard in a densely populated area.
The roadway, which added connections to US 90 and Loop 410, was upgraded from two to four lanes, with turn lanes. Pape-Dawson conducted a traffic study to determine traffic operations along the corridor and safe routes and crossings to three schools. Improvements to the intersection of Neil Armstrong Elementary School included a widened road to improve traffic operations, buffered bicycle lanes, detached sidewalks, traffic signal upgrades, utility coordination, and low-impact drainage design.
